Reflection of College

Being in college is a lot like I expected. I knew the challenges of being on my own were going to be different, but I did not think I would enjoy them like I am. I am surprised by how much time I have as a college student. Although you have to study a lot, there is still a lot of free time to what what you have to get done or as you please. I always went to Publix on my own and out to eat so that is not any different. Laundry though on the other hand, I have never done. I knew I would have to once I was here and honestly, it is not hard, but it is annoying. I hate separating my clothes (it takes too long) so I have resorted to putting all my clothes in on cold/cold wash so nothing blends. When it comes to drying, I have to take out my air dry clothes and put the rest in the dryer. I do not feel too stressed with all of this because of the all the time I have, I have a lot of time to get things done and completed.
Going to bed is actually a lot easier now that I am not at home. When I was at home and had to "go to bed" it would make me want to stay awake. Having no one to tell me to sleep though, I stay up until I know I am tired and need to go to sleep; this is usually by 1 the latest. I do not usually study that late, because I like to get it done with earlier, and I am able to do so with my time schedule.
All of this though has made me greater appreciate my parents for pushing me as they have and helping me to get ready for college. They helped me with my time management and how important it is to study. I definitely miss someone doing my laundry though!

How I Feel

Today, unlike the other days this week, I feel drowsy. I am miserable and exhausted. Last night, I felt I was getting sick and sure enough when I woke up today, I was. My head is fuzzy and heavy, my eyes hurt when I move them side to side, and my nose is irritated and runny. Having to keep having to spit makes me mad because I know it is un-lady like. I feel like absolute poop today. I woke up wanting to go straight back to bed, when waking up is usually never an issue for me. Seeing everyone else healthy and happy walking around though makes me forget how crummy I feel at points today. Hopefully, this nefarious cold will go away soon so I can be back to my peppy usual self. How I feel is very unlike my usual personality and I hate feeling sad and sick on such a beautiful day when I have a lot I need and want to get done.

HOW TO WRITE A SHORT STORY:
http://jerz.setonhill.edu/writing/creative1/shortstory/

I will develop my story with these tips from this website to create an entertaining short fiction story. I will introduce the main characters in the beginning and the other characters later on. It will start off describing a lot of the setting and characters descriptions. I will mix this with things happening as the story is going on. I will try to make as little "static" as possible, meaning I will continuously try to move the story and plot forward or reveal more about the characters rather than the story be stagnant or go now here. The audience will soon see a conflict developing that others in the story do not see. I will include conflicts and flashbacks to make the story more twisted and to captivate the readers attention. This fiction story will have a surprising and ironic ending.

Week 4- Reflection

My process of writing has not only evolved through writing our papers, but my view on writing has changed as well. Writing the past two papers has actually made me enjoy writing more than I have in the past. Mr. Haney's acceptances such as allowing contractions, the usage of the word "you", and many other things, has allowed me to expand my creativity and own way of writing. I think allowing these things lets you get to know the narrator/writer a lot better. I was never a fan of prewriting and I still am not. That is the one thing that has not changed. Personally, just starting to write your paper with the ideas on your mind at the time works best for me. If I ever pre-write, I always change whatever I start with and feel an obligation to try to stick to my prewriting. I feel writing whatever it is you write as it comes to mind develops the most creative papers. However, although this has not changed, my editing and revision skills have greatly improved. Reading the readings in the handbook have taught me valuable lessons in revising as well as having the practice to revise papers in conferences. I have learned not to edit, but compliment and criticize a section or the paper as a whole and tell how to improve the paper. I also now believe that having multiple drafts makes your work a whole lot better than just one or two drafts. I used to think there was never much to change except grammar mistakes, but I now know and feel comfortable deleting whole sections or adding them, and completely changing a draft if needed. I now like having more than one person read my paper and tell me how I can sharpen my ideas and sentence wording. Having multiple eyes can give you fresh views. These blogs as well have improved my creativity. Having to write blogs every day opens your mind to more than just general ideas. It opens a deeper part to think of more specific creativity and to reach beyond what you normally do.

A Memory of Art

Art does not necessarily have to be a painting, drawing, sculpture, or any form of class work/musical creation. Art is the way someone performs something creative and distinct. It is not something you must always be able to sell, hang in a museum, or stand on stage for. Art can be a sport, a talent, a hobby you are good at, or even something you create in your imagination.
My most wonderful art was gymnastics. Not just gymnastics in general, but my routines. I was a very shy when I was younger (yes, hard to believe), so I would not always compete. Somehow, my mom got me away from that. Yet, I was still required to do my routines and participate in in house meets. My coaches would always see me very distracted doing all my own stuff while they would be giving instructions or demonstrating what to do. I would be in the back creating and just doing whatever gymnastics and dance moves I felt like. Eventually, they decided to have me make a routine, along with the rest of the kids to get new ideas. This was my art. I could not in a million years make up a dance routine, but gymnastics, give me a spring floor and I was set. The things I pictured I wanted to do that I couldn't on floor, I would quickly run to the slim, black tumble track and do that tumbling on there. Front tuck step out round off back handspring back layout. Then, run back to the floor and continue my routine. My creativity made gymnastic routines my art. This is my type of art that unfortunately, even if I have the mind set and creativity, I can no longer accomplish due to my fears and lack of courage.

Grandpa Watcher

Grandpa. The perfect candidate as a "Watcher". Even when he was alive he was my watcher. His quote "Who loves you?" always inspired/s me to create a polished paper. Knowing how proud he always was of me for all my accomplishments and still is, (he passed last summer), my constant memory of that question drives me to create something superlative. I know up above in his luxurious, yet simple home made of the fluffiest, cotton white clouds, he reads my writings and guides me through them. My watcher can motivate me to sit and ponder creative ideas and angles at which to write.Once I reach about 4 or 5 pages of my writing... I stop. I think Grandpa needs a breathe. His ambition and motivation always kicks back though and my writer's block is instantly turned aside. My watcher does not let this block happen for too long, knowing how impelled I am to continue my paper. My Grandpa/watcher never lets me down.
